What’s happening this half term at preschool…..

Over the next couple of weeks we are thinking about ‘People who help us’. We have started the term with an exciting visit from the fire service! We have more visits coming up this week and next, including a visit from ‘Kids around dogs’ on Friday, please see their website for more details: https://kidsarounddogs.co.uk/

Next Wednesday we have visit from a ‘Puddle Ducks’ swimming instructor to talk about safety around water. We are also hoping to have visits from the RNLI and a Paramedic. Later this term we will be finding out about Gardening and growing, Spring, Mother’s Day and Easter!

World Book Day: Thursday 2nd March

We are celebrating ‘World Book day’ at preschool on Thursday 2nd March. Children are welcome to bring in their favourite story (please name!) and are welcome to dress up as a favourite character (this is optional- we will have lots of fancy dress out at preschool and will be making masks/crowns- so please do not feel pressure to buy costumes) All children will also receive a book token.

Borrow a book library box: We want to promote a love of reading every day- not just on World Book day, so we will be starting a ‘borrow a book library box’, this will be outside of preschool every day, you are welcome to borrow one book at a time to share at home with your child.

Sponsored ‘share a story’:

During the week of World Book day we would like to encourage families to take part in a sponsored ‘Share a story’ event. Please see the attached letter for more details, all money raised will go towards purchasing exciting books for preschool.

Mother’s Day Surprise Sale Donations:

We are still collecting donations for our Mother’s Day surprise sale in March. If you have any suitable unopened unused toiletries or other gifts, we would be very grateful for donations. Please hand donations to the staff member on the door. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed, we have had some lovely gifts come in ☺

Mother’s Day Surprise Sale: Week beginning Monday 13th March

Children will have the opportunity to choose and wrap a gift for their mum in exchange for a donation (suggested donation between £1 and £3, but please just give what you can afford) The children always feel very proud to have chosen something themselves! We will be running the surprise sale every day during the week beginning 13th March so all children have the opportunity to take part. Please hand donations to the staff member on the door. All money raised will go towards new resources for preschool.

Stay and Play mornings

We would like to welcome parents into preschool so the children can share with you the type of activities they take part in on a typical day at preschool. On the following dates we will be opening our doors for parents and carers to join us for the first part of the session from 9.15am-10am on:

Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th March.

You do not have to come in every day, but are welcome to come in on the most convenient day/ days for you. Siblings are also welcome to come in. If you cannot come in on any of the dates above, but you would like to come in another time please let us know and we can arrange an alternative time. Our next formal keyworker meetings will be in May, but you can chat to your child’s keyworker at the stay and play mornings, and please remember we have an open door policy, you are always welcome to speak to Emily, Wendy or your child’s keyworker at the beginning or end of each session.

Nut free reminder

Just a reminder that we are a nut free preschool, and that we have children attending who have nut allergies. Please ensure your child’s lunchbox contains no nuts or products containing nuts such as nut cereal bars or satay chicken. Thankyou.

Afternoon session availability

Thank you to everyone who took part in our parent survey. We are collating the results and we will let you know soon how your feedback will help to shape the service Mudeford Wood Preschool offers.

Kind Regards, Emily and the Mudeford Wood Preschool Staff Team
