Newsletter 21st October 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope that you and your families are all safe and well. It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome the children back to playgroup, and to meet all of our new families. We have been incredibly impressed with how quickly the children have settled in and adapted to our coronavirus measures, and it is wonderful to see them playing, laughing, socialising and learning!
We also want to thank parents and carers for following all of our coronavirus measures and socially distancing at drop off and pick up. Your understanding and patience have been really helpful. We are aware it is not as easy for parents to talk to staff at the moment, so please do feel free to email or phone the office anytime if you have any queries. We also always appreciate ideas and feedback, so please do share ideas if there is anything you think we can change or improve!
Wellies and Waterproofs
We have been enjoying making the most of our local area this half term, going for walks, exploring the woods and playing on the field and at the park. As the weather turns wetter and colder we would still like to continue spending time outdoors. To help us with this please can your child bring a named coat to every session, and a pair of named wellies? (These can stay at playgroup in a carrier bag on their peg, or be brought in each time they are in)
We have been finding the children are drinking more from their drinks bottles than when we solely had a water station, so we encourage children to bring in a named drinks bottle, this should just contain water unless there is a medical need for a different drink. (Water will continue to be available to all children at our water station throughout sessions, and children will still be offered milk at snack time)
We have children attending our setting who have nut allergies, so please ensure your child’s lunch contains no nuts or items with nuts in their ingredient list. At playgroup we are talking to the children about ways to be healthy, including healthy eating, please can parents support us with this by providing a healthy balanced lunch and trying to avoid including salty or sugary foods. We have also noticed some children have large portions and are struggling to finish their lunches, please try to pack ‘child sized’ portions. Thankyou.
Please ensure you name everything your child brings to preschool, including their coat, jumper, bag, waterbottle, wellies and lunchbox! It makes it so much easier for staff to ensure belongings do not get lost and go home with the right child, thankyou 😊
Christchurch Food Bank Donations
Thankyou so much for all of your generous donations to Christchurch food bank. We now have two large boxes full! I will be taking these to the food bank on Friday 23rd October, where they will be a great help to the local community!
IQ Christmas Cards fundraiser
You should have now all received your child’s special Christmas card designs! (Please let us know if you haven’t) If you would like to order any personalised cards or gifts please fill in the form and bring it back to us. Please follow payment instructions on the form. We think these will make lovely gifts for your friends and family, and also raise valuable funds for playgroup. Please let us know if you would like any blank forms for siblings to design one too! The deadline for returning forms is Tuesday 3rd November.
BH23 Pumpkin Trail
The children have had fun this week making some Halloween decorations and exploring spooky slime and pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. As Halloween will be a bit different this year we will be taking part in the BH23 Pumpkin trail and putting some pumpkin decorations on our fence for children to spot. The idea is for families to walk around their local area and look for pumpkins instead of trick or treating, parents can choose if they would like to give their children a treat for each pumpkin they spot…..will you be taking part?
Tapestry and Autumn Progress Summaries
We hope you have enjoyed seeing photos of some of the activities your child has been doing on Tapestry. As parents have not been able to come into playgroup this half term, we have found it a valuable way to share with you what we have been up to. If you are having any problems accessing Tapestry please let us know.
In November we would usually be inviting parents in to meet with their child’s keyworker. Due to coronavirus measures we cannot do that this year, instead we will be publishing your child’s Autumn report on Tapestry after half term. We will also offer parents the opportunity to have a telephone consultation with their child’s keyworker. If you have any questions or queries in the meantime please just let us know at pick up or drop off, or by phoning or emailing the office.
Coronavirus measures update:
We are continuing to check and follow government updates. Staff and children are now really used to our enhanced cleaning and extra hand hygiene measures. Please help us keep playgroup safe by;
Social distancing when dropping off and picking up your child from playgroup.
Ensuring we have up to date contact details.
Ensuring your child does not come to playgroup if they have;
A continuous cough
A high temperature
A change to their sense of smell or taste
Ensuring your child does not come to playgroup if any of their close contacts have coronavirus symptoms or a positive test result.
Ensuring your child does not come to playgroup if they have been told to self-isolate by track and trace.
Please let us know if your child will be absent from playgroup for any reason, by calling 01425 541353, or emailing email@example.com
Thankyou for your understanding and co-operation.
Lastly just a reminder that next week (Monday 26th- Friday 30th October) is half term. We hope you all have a lovely break. Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 2nd November!
